Mark Skilton - Industry Impact of AI
Professor of Practice Mark Skilton, Industry Director AIIN, explaining how impact can be accelerated through the network. Talk given at the launch of Artificial Intelligence Innovation Network (AIIN) at the Shard campus of the Warwick Business School, 9 July 2018.
Mark Skilton about Future Business Operating Models
Mark Skilton, Professor of Practice at the Warwick Business School (University of Warwick, UK) delivered a speech on future operating models. The 4th industrial revolution impact calls for intersection of different technologies together with human expertise. Thus, new human jobs are created; some super human tasks will be executed by the robots only, augmented human jobs will come to existence. He noted that task automation is inevitable and human skills will be mimicked by machine skills: image recognition, instructions, checking and alerts, voice, text. Skilton outlined that new forms of AI business models are emerging. They will open the way for the new capabilities, new products, new experiences – and entrepreneurship innovation will have a hype. WannaCry - The Fourth Theatre of War: What WannaCryptor Reveals About Cybersecurity in 2017
Cybersecurity researcher, Mark Skilton joins us to dig deeper into the threat of the WannaCry malware. Mark explains what WannaCryptor is and what makes it so different from ransomware attacks we've seen in the past. We'll discuss the NSA's involvement in the EternalBlue exploit that made it possible, the smokescreen WannaCrypt is creating for the next big cyber attack, why so many companies are still susceptible, and what needs to change was we enter this new era of cyber threats. Mark Skilton, of Warwick Business School, researches cyber security and is author of Building Digital Ecosystems with a new book, The Fourth Industrial Revolution, soon to be published. He is a Professor of Practice in the Information Systems & Management group. Check out Mark's books at https://cat5.tv/mark or his web site at http://markskilton.com Robbie Ferguson is the host of Category5 Technology TV. His full-time work at a computer firm includes providing security-related advice and training to companies and individuals across Canada, and offering solutions to protect against threats such as WannaCryptor and other ransomware. ----- Interview with Mark Skilton: WannaCry - The Fourth Theatre of War: What WannaCryptor Reveals About Cybersecurity in 2017 (https://category5.tv/shows/clips_tech/episode/504-mark-skilton-wannacry-interview/) Interview with Stephen Cobb: WannaCry - What ESET Wants You To Know About The Worm Attacking Windows Worldwide (https://category5.tv/shows/clips_tech/episode/504-stephen-cobb-eset-wannacry/) Category5.TV (http://category5.tv/) Newsroom with Sasha Dirmeitis: Top Stories for the Week of May 17, 2017 (https://category5.tv/shows/newsroom/episode/504/)
What is the fourth industrial revolution?
We have experienced 3 major industrial revolutions, what will the fourth one be? Mark Skilton, Professor of Practice at WBS, argues that the fourth industrial revolution represents the convergence of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, virtual and augmented reality, 3D printing and the internet of things into still unimagined new products, services and even industries. Prof Mark Skilton on Warwick Business School's Partnership with Fetch.AI | Blockchain AI | Fetch.ai
Fetch.AI is proud to announce an exciting partnership with the Warwick Business School. Professor Mark Skilton explains the plans for the partnership and his predictions for the future. ----- Use Case Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL09jEkqdEp94GCiExI_0tYorH3jC7sDOZ Fetch.AI 101 Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s34H-yujHIg&list=PL09jEkqdEp97RfY0pOZqIBY6y27ybK-aX ----- Fetch.AI is a decentralised digital world in which useful economic activity can take place. This activity is performed by digital entities that we call Autonomous Economic Agents (AEAs). AEAs can work alone, together, serially or in parallel, and they can represent humans, services, themselves, data and more. AEAs connect to the world through our Open Economic Framework (OEF) which acts as an agent’s senses. The OEF presents a highly tailored world to each individual agent, one that is adapted specifically for it. Underpinning this is the Fetch Smart Ledger which provides the network’s integrity and delivers consensus through useful proof of work. Fetch are developing the OEF and Smart Ledger to enable everyone to develop agents. We like to think of Fetch as the ultimate dating system for value providers and those that want that value: connect, and the smart ledger through the OEF will ensure that what you see is precisely what you need to see in order to do business. Fetch.AI is a world-changing project, a “decentralised digital world” where autonomous software agents act on the behalf of their owners, or themselves, to get useful economic work done. We are a dynamic, fast-growing international team of experts and forward-thinking technology enthusiasts working on the convergence of blockchain, AI and multi-agent systems. We are building technology for both today and tomorrow - a collective super-intelligence on top of decentralized economic internet built with a highly scalable next-generation distributed ledger technology (DLT). Combined with machine learning, this delivers the predictions and infrastructure to power the future economy. Developing fascinating and promising new technology, we have a team of top class software engineers and researchers working across multiple fields (multi agent systems, machine learning, economics, cryptography). To further improve our solutions and deploy them in real life scenarios, we also collaborate with top academics and corporate partners across the world . We believe our technology will improve how we communicate, it will give voice and new opportunities to people, organizations and the Internet of Things, effectively democratising the space and improving lives of citizens. ---
